To recognize those who have gone above and beyond, AAOE created the annual Awards of Excellence program. The Awards of Excellence are presented to deserving individuals and practices that embody the best in our industry. 

Now accepting nominations for the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award!

The AAOE Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an AAOE member who has had a major impact on orthopaedic practice management during his or her career. Below are the eligibility criteria, nomination and selection process, and recognition for the AAOE Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Criteria:

  • An AAOE member who has had a major impact on orthopaedic practice management during his or her career. This includes having a significant achievement and making a difference in his or her practice, serving as an impactful voice and thought leader in the industry, and/or making contributions to the industry with lasting impact.
  • 25+ years in orthopaedic practice management.
  • AAOE member in good standing (both emeritus and active members are eligible).

The winner will be presented with an award during the AAOE 2018 Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida April 14-17, 2018. The winner will receive one night's accommodations and travel to the conference, in addition to complimentary conference registration. The winner will be notified in December to make arrangements for travel to the conference.

Both peer and self-nominations will be accepted (the nominator must be an AAOE member in good standing). Nominations will be reviewed by the AAOE Awards Task Force, who will make a recommendation to the board for final approval. 

Once you start the form, you cannot save it or start and come back later. Here's what you need to submit a nomination:

  • Completion of a nomination form, including short answer questions regarding the nominee's qualifications.
  • At least one, and up to three, letters of support from someone other than the nominator (you have the option to submit at a later date if you'd like).
  • The nominee's CV or resume (optional).

Submit a nomination for the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award. Deadline to nominate is Friday, November 10, 2017.

In November, nominations will open for the following award categories.

Volunteer of the Year

AAOE would not be the organization it is today without the efforts of many member volunteers. This award recognizes an AAOE member who has made exceptional contributions in a voluntary capacity to support the organization’s goals.

Criteria:

  • Must be an AAOE member in good standing.
  • Specific contributions must have been performed during the January 1 – December 31, 2016, time period.
  • AAOE Board members are not eligible.

 

Practice Executive of the Year

Strong leadership is vital to both the short-term and the long-term success of a practice. This award recognizes the commitment of an AAOE member who, as the lead staff person or executive, has consistently gone above and beyond at his or her practice. The award is granted based on the recipient’s ability to motivate others, stimulate positive activity, and serve as a catalyst for exceptional results.

Criteria:

  • Must be an AAOE member in good standing. 
  •  Actively involved in a full-time position as the chief staff executive person for his or her practice/organization.
  • Contributions must have been made during the January 1 – December 31, 2016, time period.
  • AAOE Board Members are not eligible.

 

Practice Professional of the Year

Because individuals in many positions and levels within a practice can positively affect the organization, this award recognizes an AAOE member who is employed in a full-time position as a staff member (not CEO) of a practice or organization. This person is dedicated to the mission and vision of the practice/organization and has made significant contributions.

Criteria:

  • Must be an AAOE member in good standing. 
  •  Actively involved in a full-time position as a professional (not CEO) for his or her practice/organization.
  • Contributions must have been made during the January 1 – December 31, 2016, time period.
  • AAOE Board members are not eligible.

 

Rising Star

Encouragement and support of staff in their career development will ensure the practice management profession remains on solid footing. This award recognizes the contribution and innovation of an AAOE member who is newer to orthopaedic practice management (1-3 years’ experience). This person is dedicated to the mission and vision of his or her employer and has shown significant contributions to the practice/organization. 

Criteria:

  • Must be an AAOE member in good standing. 
  •  Actively involved in a full-time position as a professional (not CEO) for his or her practice/organization.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in orthopaedic practice management.
  • Contributions must have been made during the January 1 – December 31, 2016, time period.
  • AAOE Board members are not eligible.

 

Innovation Award

Today, more than ever, innovation is a must for survival and long-term success in health care. Those who are able to identify opportunities, think creatively, solve problems, and take risks will elevate orthopaedic care. This award recognizes an individual, orthopaedic or subspecialty practice, or a hospital department that has developed an innovative solution to improve delivery of care, patient satisfaction, or physician/employee satisfaction, and can be replicated to benefit the entire orthopaedic community.

Criteria:

  • Must be an AAOE member in good standing or a practice/organization of an AAOE member in good standing. 
  •  The program of care or service demonstrates innovation in workforce development, policies, and practice.
  • Contributions must have been made during the January 1 – December 31, 2016, time period.

 

Excellence in Service

The practices/organizations of many AAOE members focus company resources to continuously improve quality of service. This award recognizes a practice/employer of an AAOE member for the organization's programs and services that are models of excellence, contributing significantly to the quality of service to their patients, their community, and/or the employees’ quality of work life. 

Criteria:

  • A practice/organization of an AAOE member in good standing.

  • Services must have been executed during the January 1 - December 31, 2016, time period.

 

Collaborate Champion

AAOE Collaborate is a tool for members to communicate directly with peers, sharing experience and information to make each person and the industry better. This award recognizes an AAOE member who has consistently contributed on Collaborate, providing valuable information in a positive and knowledgeable manner that benefits other members while supporting the AAOE mission and values.

Criteria: 

  • Must be an AAOE member in good standing.

  • Contributions must have been made during January 1 – December 31, 2016, time period.

  • AAOE Board members are not eligible.
