Early Voting

36 states and the District of Columbia offer early voting in 2016. Look for a state below to see when early voting begins in relation to the 2016 General Election.

Alabama

Early voting starts 15 days before Election Day.

Early voting ends on Election Day.

Arizona

Early voting starts 26 days before Election Day.

Early voting ends at 5:00pm on the Friday before Election Day.

Arkansas

Early voting starts 15 days before a primary or general election, and 7 days before a special election.

Early voting ends at 5 PM on the Monday before Election Day.

California

Early voting start times vary by county. In general, early voting starts 30 days before Election Day.

Early voting end times vary by county. In general early voting ends the day before Election Day.

Colorado

Every Colorado voter receives a ballot in the mail, but voters may still vote in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center. In-person voting voting begins at least 7 days before Election Day.

In-person voting ends on Election Day.

Indiana

Early voting starts 29 days before Election Day.

Early voting ends at noon the day before Election Day.

Iowa

Early voting starts as soon as ballots are available

Early voting ends the day before Election Day.

Kansas

Early voting must start by the Tuesday before Election Day. In some counties early voting starts as early as 20 days before Election Day.

Early voting ends at noon the day before Election Day.

Kentucky

If unable to vote in person on Election Day, may vote via absentee ballot starting 12 days (or more) before Election Day.

Absentee voting ends the day before Election Day.

Louisiana

Early voting starts 14 days before Election Day.

Early voting ends 7 days before Election Day.

Maine

Early voting starts as soon as ballots are available (usually 30-45 days before Election Day)

Early voting ends Election Day.

Maryland

Early voting starts the second Saturday before Election Day Early voting centers are open from 10 am until 8 pm every day of early voting except on Sundays; on Sundays, they are open from 12pm to 6pm.

Early voting ends the Thursday before Election Day.

Massachusetts

Early voting starts 11 business days before Election Day.

Early voting ends 2 business days before Election Day.

Early voting ends the Friday (2 business days) before Election Day.

Early voting starts 45 days before a primary or general election - 20 days before a municipal election

Early voting ends Election Day.

If unable to vote in person on Election Day, voters may vote via absentee ballot starting as soon as ballots are available - usually between 45 days before Election Day.

Absentee In-person voting ends at 5 p.m. the Saturday before Election Day.

Wisconsin

Early voting starts 2 weeks before Election Day. Wisconsin has very strict voter ID laws, so don't forget to bring your ID with you when you vote.
